Australian orienteers enjoyed the annual Christmas 5 Day orienteering carnival.  This year the event is being held in the Newcastle area north of Sydney.  For the full results each day, the final standings, as well as maps of all courses and photos, visit the event web site's results page at

The Men A course had close competition after the first 2 days between Dave Shepherd (winner Day 1), Julian Dent (winner Day 2), Eric Morris and Grant Bluett.  However some mispunches and DNS for some of the leading group on subsequent days, saw the final placings as Dave Shepherd (winner on Days 1, 4 and 5), Grant Bluett (Day 3 winner) and Simon Uppill.

In Women A, Jo Allison won each day with Mace Neve and  Allison Jones second and third overall respectively.

Changes to International WOC Trials Wednesday, 21 March 2007 The Men's Middle Distance Trial has been moved from Sunday the 22nd of May to Saturday the 14th April and is to be held in Tibro. Hanny Allston dominates Junior of the year award Wednesday, 7 February 2007 Two women have dominated the “Best of Orienteering 2006” Poll staged by the two major sources for international orienteering news - the website World of O and the magazine Orienteering Today. Simone Niggli-Luder from Switzerland and the Australian Hanny Allston completely dominated in the Poll in which voted over 1500 readers of the World of O website and the Orienteering Today magazine. Both Niggli and Allston are gold medalists from the last year's World Championships in Denmark.

Ultimax Stingers 5 Day — Day 2 & 3 Report Friday, 5 January 2007 Day 2 of the Ultimax 5 days saw competitors return to Kahli’s Rocks but venture into different terrain with a different format. All classes had mass starts with ‘A’ classes also having hageby style loops. That is two loops beginning and ending at central pivot control with half the field doing each loop then swapping. The last 4 controls were common allowing for a spectacular finish.
